Tucked away on a quiet stretch of Moray Street in New Farm, this cafe offers a relaxed, suburban vibe that suits mornings spent lingering over coffee or catching up on some work. The choice between inside seating and a shaded outdoor area under the footpath awning means you can enjoy your visit regardless of the Brisbane weather, with the buzz of the neighborhood around you but without anything feeling overwhelming.
People often come here for thoughtful breakfast and brunch options that lean into fresh, wholesome ingredients. The menu blends familiar favorites with a few creative touches — dishes like the karaage French toast, eggs Benedict variations, and the Ras El Hanout chicken salad provide a good balance between hearty and health-conscious. Coffee plays a key role here, with not only reliable classics but also a notable oat latte that has caught some attention. There’s also a variety of teas and fresh juices to suit different tastes throughout the day.
The pace is unhurried yet attentive, making it an easy spot for solo diners with their laptops as well as couples or small groups catching up. It’s casual but feels a bit trendy without being forced about it. The environment can be lively during busy times, so it’s best suited for those who don’t mind a bit of background energy over a quiet conversation or a laid-back morning. Families looking for a kids’ menu might want to consider alternatives, as this place caters more towards adult diners and those looking for a thoughtful, somewhat elevated cafe experience.
With practical touches like free street parking, a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and dog-friendly outdoor seating, it feels like a well-considered spot for a variety of visitors who appreciate good coffee, fresh food, and a calm atmosphere in this vibrant New Farm pocket.

5 A small and relaxed suburban cafe along Moray Street. We arrived on bikes, no problem finding a spot to park the bikes. Choice of inside dining or outside under the footpath awning. Brissy during an early spring morning, outside every time. Friendly and fast service, we ordered coffees, these were good and arrived promptly. Busy without being insane, noise not a problem, Moray Street is busy but not intrusive.
5 What a delightful breakfast spot! We walked there from our nearby accommodation so I cannot comment on the parking. However - the meals were delicious!! The atmosphere was loud. We were seated somewhat quickly as a couple had finished up and offered their table to us. We sat inside & I could hardly hear my fiancé speak. Luckily we were just there to eat and not chat haha the coffee was perfection too! The bacon was thick cut, hash browns oversized, mushrooms well seasoned - overall 10/10.
5 A lovely atmosphere with attentive and helpful staff. Food was plated beautifully, and delicious too! Would highly recommend for a brunch date!
5 Hey Mr. Cafe is a lovely spot for a good coffee and a bite to eat. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I had a almond croissant which was nice and fresh. There is no kids menu so I wouldn't recommend it for children. There's several vegetarian options on the menu.
5 The ingredients in the food were so fresh. The combination of the ingredients worked very well. One downfall was my mum’s eggs were hard when she asked for softly poached eggs. The pickled veggies were a nice touch to the bowl. Our coffees tasted delicious, and the customer service was welcoming and warm.
5 We went for brunch today at Hey Mr. New Farm and it did not disappoint. The mango smoothie, made with coconut milk (a huge plus), tasted like pure paradise. Our dishes were beautifully presented and tasted just as good as they looked.
